But this time, Payne's plan is to hold the city hostage by detonating a massive, space-age doomsday device that will destroy the city's infrastructure and hold the world for ransom. As Traven navigates the treacherous streets of LA, he's aided by a brilliant and feisty reporter who's hot on the trail of the story of the century. Meanwhile, a joint American-Russian crew, led by a veteran astronaut, blasts off into space to destroy the comet hurtling towards Earth, unaware that their mission is being manipulated by Payne, who's secretly controlling the comet's trajectory to ensure the city's destruction. As the clock ticks down, Traven and the reporter must work together to stop Payne and his minions, while the astronauts face off against the comet in a desperate bid to save humanity from extinction.
